AppleSkin

Our collars and leashes are made from AppleSkin: a vegan, cruelty-free leather alternative made with apple residues from South Tyrol.

Where it comes from

When apples are turned into juice, peels and cores are left over. In South Tyrol, these leftovers are processed further instead of being thrown away. That is how AppleSkin is made.

Why we chose it

Our founder Alessa loves the look and feel of leather. For ALECOO, however, she wanted an alternative without animal suffering that is every bit as good as leather. AppleSkin costs considerably more to buy than conventional leather. We still believe it is the right way.

What it does in everyday life

AppleSkin is lightweight and comfortable to wear, yet it keeps its shape and is hard-wearing and long-lasting. It is colourfast and does not transfer colour onto light-coloured fur, even when wet. Every piece is made by hand in Italy.

Care

Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use harsh cleaning agents. Do not machine wash and do not use in water. Leave to air dry.
